A high-desert research campus of earth-sheltered, green-roofed structures and a low dome set among red-rock mesas at golden hour.

USARA

Utah Sustainable Agriculture Research Arcology

A research arcology for continuity.

USARA is a planned high-desert research campus — a place to grow food, sustain nutrition, preserve biological heritage, and recover water and energy under real constraint.

Root Deep, Bloom Strong.

Resilience must become productive.

Modern civilization is powerful, but deeply interdependent. Food depends on water, energy, logistics, labor, fertilizer, refrigeration, and trust. Knowledge depends on power, storage, institutions, and continuity between generations.

USARA begins from a simple premise: lasting resilience cannot be built from storage alone. It must be grown, repaired, taught, practiced, and renewed.

The campus is being designed as a living systems institution — a place where food, water, energy, shelter, health, culture, training, and preservation are studied together.

What USARA studies

A living systems campus.

USARA brings together disciplines that are often studied separately, but must function together under constraint.

Closed-loop agriculture

Controlled-environment food systems, aquaponics, crop diversity, seed renewal, algae, and resilient diets.

Resilient nutrition

Nutrition and whole-diet research for constrained, remote, and continuity-focused environments.

Controlled-origin terroir

Wine, saffron, cacao, coffee, tea, vanilla, spirits, and heritage crops studied under reconstructed environmental conditions.

Biological preservation

Seed systems, genetic heritage, fungal strains, medicinal plants, and biological continuity.

Campus concept

Designed as an organism beneath the desert.

Earth-sheltered structures, bermed landforms, quiet arrival sequences, and a strong relationship between architecture and terrain. Its buildings, training facilities, and guest areas each serve the campus’s research, training, and community life directly.

This is not a conventional university campus, resort, or technology park. It is a living systems campus designed for continuity.

Secure Review Room
